If It is Good Enough For Peter Cottontail?

The other old fashion remedy I am incorporating into this weight loss routine is unsulphured Blackstrap Molasses.  I buy this brand but I know there are others.  I reference Peter Cottontail here because some where in my distant youth it seems that Peter's mother fed him Blackstrap Molasses.  Well that's my memory anyway.  I guess Peter's mom knew more than most because these molasses are filled with great vitamins and minerals.

I found that Blackstrap Molasses are the resulting product of heating sugar cane to extract the sucrose to make table sugar.  The Blackstrap variety has been heat processed three different times, therefore you might hear it referred to as third molasses.  It does have a strong flavor but honestly I do not mind it at all.  I use 1 tablespoon and lick it clean!  If I do want a chaser, pretty much any liquid will do.  My only cautionary advise is that it is dark, thick and sticky, so don't go overflow your spoon atop your best white linen tablecloth.

As far as health benefits it is kind of endless, but these are a few; significant amounts of calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, niacin, Vitamin B6, thyamine, riboflavin, cobalt and selenium. It's consider a SUPERFOOD because it is nutrient dense.
